Evanston Home Educators is a group of homeschooling parents in and around
Evanston who gather together to help each other create learning and social
opportunities for their children. EHE provides support, ideas, information,
and opportunities for group classes and field trips . A member of the umbrella
group H.O.U.S.E. (Home-Oriented Unique Schooling Experience), our group is
non-sectarian, and our members have many different approaches to and reasons
for homeschooling.
Evanston Home Educators meets at 7:15 p.m. on the first Tuesday of the month on Zoom. (NOTE: There is no meeting in July.) Please email Elise Kloster for sign-in information. Our meetings are designed for adults only; however, infants are always welcome.
You do not need to be a member of EHE to come to our meetings. For
those who are exploring the concept of homeschooling, who have
just made the decision to homeschool, or who are new to the area, you are
welcome to attend the meetings and newcomer circles for as long as you feel like a newcomer.
We can cover the legalities of homeschooling, the range of homeschooling styles
and resources, the philosophy of homeschooling, what EHE has to offer, how to
get started, and answer individual questions.
Main topic discussion begins at 7:15. We take an impromptu break and
any newcomers can break off for the Newcomers' Circle. We resume
discussions until 9 pm. The business meeting is held at 9 pm.
For more information contact Elise (Membership Coordinator).
We also host periodic Newcomers' Teas, a more leisurely setting to discuss
your questions in more depth. Experienced homeschoolers share their stories and
resource ideas. We cover the legalities of homeschooling, the range of homeschooling
styles and resources, the philosophy of homeschooling, what EHE has to offer,
how to get started, and answer individual questions.
Information on how EHE works is available on the About Us page of this website.
